Engage Leeds reaches out to local business to help tackle homelessness through employment opportunities

Engage Leeds deliver housing support to 1500 clients across Leeds who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. The Employment & Engagement Team work with national and local employers including Bam Nuttall, Wates Construction, RG Group and Pret a Manger offering paid employment opportunities for our work ready clients.

Engage Leeds have many success stories with the above named companies. A recent example includes a client with an offending background whose accommodation was at risk due to rent arrears. This person spent a year on a construction site in Leeds and has now moved on to obtain a job with a local contractor learning a new trade. This person’s accommodation is now sustained and his whole outlook on life has changed.

Engage Leeds are looking to work with companies who share our values of social inclusion. We are looking for other employers who would be willing to collaboratively work alongside us to make a meaningful difference to lives. We support both client and employer, with workplace visits where the employer wants this.

James Smith, Project Manager at RG Group commented “We find it rewarding supporting those at risk of homelessness into paid employment. It makes a tangible difference to lives. We value our partnership with Engage Leeds.”

Brent Riley Employment and Engagement Worker with Engage Leeds commented. “Employment brings structure and purpose to our clients lives. Self-esteem and confidence improve, financial worries are eased, accommodation is often sustained or easier to obtain. We see smiles on faces, family aspirations change.”
