Leeds charity receives £1k boost from 5 star homebuilder
Leeds-based end of life charity, The Swan Song Project has received a £1,000 donation from local homebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, as part of its monthly charity initiative.
The Swan Song Project, based at the Chapel FM Arts Centre in Leeds, gives people facing end of life and those surrounding them the chance to write and record their own song. The charity was set up in 2017 by award-winning songwriter Ben Buddy Slack, after losing his Grandma and regretting not recording her singing with him.
The charity provides group workshops and pairs people with a professional songwriter, who guides them from the initial idea to recording their own original song. The £1,000 donation will help the Swan Song Project continue to offer a free songwriting service so that loved ones can live on through song.
Ben Buddy Slack, Founder and Creative Director at The Swan Song Project said, “Our charity celebrates lives, makes memories and brings loved ones together, which is important for those facing end of life and bereavement. The £1,000 will really help us provide comfort and joy through song. We’re very grateful to Barratt Developments Yorkshire West for its generous donation.”
Darren Johnson, Construction Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West added, “The Swan Song Project does commendable work offering emotional support to local people. We hope that our donation will help to raise awareness of the vital work that The Swan Song Project does and help the charity to continue supporting those in need.”
